1. Mombasa
Stop
About the destination: The coastal town of Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya. Located in the South-Eastern part of Kenya, it is East Africa’s largest port and it is Kenya’s major tourist destination. The town is full of Indian influences as well as Arab, Swahili, and Bajuni. Mombasa undoubtedly has one of the best white sandy beaches and coral reefs that Africa has to offer. Coupled with historic sites and furnished with an array of hotels on the beachfront, Mombasaa is the ideal place for a vacation. The highlights of Mombasa are the Old town, Fort Jesus, Mombasa tusks, the Hindu temple, Bamburi nature trail, Mamba village, Bombolulu workshop and the Gedi Ruins. Mombasa offers diverse marine life, world-class hotels and a friendly atmosphere. There is a tropical climate all year; it is a great destination filled with activities for all ages.

2. Nyali
Stop
About the destination: Nyali is a residential area within Mombasa City, located on the mainland north of Mombasa County. It is connected to Mombasa Island by the New Nyali Bridge. Nyali is known for its many high-class hotels and residential houses, modern standards, and long white sand beaches making it a popular destination for both local and foreign tourists. Nyali has become a very westernized residential area, relatively autonomous with two Nakumatt supermarkets, a cinema multiplex (Nyali Cinemax), shopping malls, banks, schools, and post offices. All this prevents its residents from having to cross the overcrowded Nyali Bridge to get to the busy center of Mombasa. In Nyali are found many interesting places like the Mamba Village(the biggest crocodile farm in Africa), Nyali Golf Club, Dwarikadham Hindu temple, numerous embassies and some of the most prestigious academic institutions of the coastal province.

About the destination: Bamburi is a commercial, industrial and local electoral, administrative and a tourist and residential area on the Kenyan north-coast which extends from the coastline on the Indian ocean to the surrounding middle and low-income settlements on the mainland. Administratively, Bamburi is in the Kisauni sub-county of Mombasa and has tourist and beach-front facilities, which include international and local hotels and parks such as Serena International Beach Hotel, Sai Rock Hotel, Kahamas H otel, Haller Park and Butterfly Pavilion.

4. Mtwapa
Stop
About the destination: Mtwapa is a town located in Kenya's Kilifi County. The town is situated approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north-east of Mombasa on the Mombasa-Malindi road. The town is also the location of the Mombasa-Mtwapa matatu terminus. Mtwapa Creek is an Indian Ocean inlet at Mtwapa, which is the border between Mombasa and Mtwapa (connected through a bridge). Mtwapa Creek is a starting point for deep sea fishing tours. There are unconfirmed theories about how the town gained its name. One such is that the original community in the area would often seek acknowledgment if the person living in the area was "mtu wa hapa" - in Swahili, this loosely translates to 'he who lives among us'. The phrase was used to prevent a person otherwise unknown to the rest of the community from being ostracized from the area as an outsider.

5. Malindi
Stay
About the destination: Having hosted Vasco da Gama's fleet in 1498, Malindi has been welcoming strangers ever since. It's a bustling town that doesn't quite have the architecture of Lamu or the easy-going charm of Watamu, but it makes up for it with several worthwhile historical sights, its own marine national park and some fantastic stretches of beach. Beloved by Italians – many of whom have settled here (particularly Sicilians back in the 1970s, allegedly fleeing from Interpol) – Malindi has been feeling the pinch lately, with economic depression in Europe impacting on much of its visitor market. Still, it remains a melting pot of local cultures with a rich and fascinating history. Wander through the alleys of the atmospheric old town, dine on terrific Italian food beside the Indian Ocean or take a plunge into the crystal-clear waters of the national park, and you'll discover for yourself that Malindi is quite the charmer.

6. Watamu
Stop
About the destination: Watamu is a small town located north of Mombasa and south of Malindi on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya. It lies on a small headland, between the Blue Lagoon and Watamu Bay. Its main economic activities are tourism and fishing. Looks out over the ocean and with soft white sand and blessed by a soft breeze. Whichever you choose, Watamu does make a good base for explorations between Malindi and Kilif. Malindi-Watamu Biosphere Reserve is located on the coast of Kenya about 100 km north of Mombasa. Notable physical features of this biosphere reserve are rock platforms, cliffs and sandy beaches. Mida Creek comprises tidal mud flats with fringing mangrove swamps and the biosphere reserve area also includes coral reefs and sea-grass beds.

7. Tiwi Beach
Stop
About the destination: Tiwi Beach is south of the Congo River next to the famous and popular Diani Beach. However, it is much quieter here at this white fine sandy beach. At the southern end is a large hotel complex with all kinds of amenities. There are hardly any buildings to the north of this hotel, with the exception of a few abandoned hotels and some private houses. At this original part of the sandy beach you will rarely see anyone, which gives you the feeling of being stranded on a desert island and makes Tiwi Beach perfect for spending a relaxed beach holiday.

8. Diani beach
Stay
About the destination: With a flawless, long stretch of white-sand beach hugged by lush forest and kissed by surfable waves, it's no wonder Diani Beach is so popular. This resort town scores points with a diverse crowd: party people, families, honeymooners, backpackers and water-sports enthusiasts. But if that sounds like your typical resort town, think again. Diani has some of the best accommodation in Kenya, from budget party hostels to funky kitesurfing lodges and intimate honeymoon spots. Most places are spread along the beach road, hidden behind a line of forest. When lazing in a hammock gets tiring, visit the coral mosques with their archways that overlook the open ocean, venture into the sacred forests where guides hug trees that speak in their ancestors’ voices, or take in the monkey sanctuary – all are good ways to experience more of the coast than the considerable charms of sun and sand.
