About the destination: The long east coast of Sri Lanka, which is inaccessible to tourism, slowly awakens from its sleepy sleep. "Trinco", the capital of the Eastern Province, is worth seeing in the region include the colorful Hindu Koneswaram Temple and the hot springs of Kanniyai. About 12 km north of Trincomalee is the small island of Pigeon Island, with an offshore coral reef just off the beach of Nilaveli, which can only be reached by boat. The best travel time for the east coast is from May to October. Arrival by land transfer from Colombo (airport Bandaranaike), on the way a stopover is recommended for example in the region of Dambulla / Sigiriya.
