Halfway up, in a rock niche, are the legendary erotic frescoes of the "Cloud Maidens", which are among the most beautiful works of early Sinhalese high culture. At the top, on the natural platform, King Kassapa I (473 - 491 AD) had his "Castle in the Sky" built. The last part of the ascent leads through two enormous lion's paws and rewards you with a breathtaking panoramic view. Dinner and overnight stay in Sigiriya.
