Andong (in Korean: 안동) officially City of Andong (in Korean, 안동시, Andong-si) is a city in the province of Gyeongsang of the North, in Korea of ​​the South. The Nakdong River flows through the city. Andong is the main commercial center of the surrounding agricultural areas. Since the 70s, Andong has developed very rapidly, although its population has declined in more than 700 inhabitants who have migrated mainly to Seoul and other urban centers. At the end of the 90s, the city of Andong has been transformed into a tourist and cultural center of national and international interest. Andong is known as a center of culture and Folklore. The surroundings preserve many ancient traditions, such as the Andong Folk Festival that takes place annually in mid-October. One of the most interesting aspects of these cultural festivities is the display of traditional Andong masks.
